Before you visit furniture shops in Larnaca or order furniture online, measure your home carefully, check every item’s dimensions and materials, and ask clear questions about delivery, assembly and collection. This guide explains what to look for if you live in Larnaca town or nearby areas such as Oroklini, Aradippou, Livadia or Kiti, and how Argos The Classics works as an online store with a collection point in the city.
Argos The Classics has been selling furniture, lighting and home décor in Cyprus since 1995. We have no showroom, but Larnaca customers can collect their orders from our collection point free of charge. More on that below.
Start with your space: measuring apartments and older houses
Homes around Larnaca vary a lot. You might live in a modern flat near the seafront, a family house in Dromolaxia or Pervolia, or an older village house in Xylofagou. Each one brings its own challenges, so measure before you fall in love with a sofa.
- Measure the length and width of the room, plus the ceiling height if you are buying tall wardrobes or shelving.
- Note where windows, doors, sockets, air-conditioning units and radiators are.
- Leave enough space to walk around beds, tables and sofas comfortably.
- Mark the footprint of a new piece on the floor with masking tape to see how it really feels.
Older houses often have uneven walls, low beams or alcoves, so measure at more than one point. Our step-by-step guide on how to measure before ordering furniture walks you through it, and the furniture size guide helps you compare standard bed, sofa and table sizes.
Doorways, stairs and lifts: the route matters as much as the room
A sofa that fits the living room is no use if it cannot get through the front door. Some apartment blocks have compact lifts, and some older houses have narrow stairs or tight corners. Check the whole route from the street to the room.
- Width and height of every door on the way, including the building entrance.
- Stairwell width and any tight turns or landings.
- Inside dimensions of the lift and the width of its door.
- Corridors and hallways, especially where you need to turn a long item.
Compare these figures with the depth and height of the item, not just its width. Large pieces such as corner sofas and wardrobes need the most care. If you are unsure, ask the shop whether the item arrives in one piece or in parts that are assembled in the room.
Check dimensions and materials before you buy
When you buy from furniture stores in Larnaca or online, the product details are your best tool. Every product page at Argos The Classics lists dimensions and materials, so you can check them against your measurements at home.
- Sofas: overall width, depth and height, plus seat height and seat depth.
- Beds: the outer frame size, not only the mattress size it takes.
- Dining tables: the size with any extension open, and space for chairs to pull out.
- Desks: width and depth, and whether your office chair fits underneath.
Materials matter too. Larnaca is a coastal town, and everyday life with children, pets or guests means some fabrics and finishes suit you better than others. Our guide to the best sofa fabrics for Cyprus homes covers what to consider.
Delivery timing, assembly and returns
Good furniture shops in Larnaca will be open about timing and costs. Here is how it works with Argos The Classics:
- We deliver across the Republic of Cyprus, including Larnaca town and the surrounding villages.
- Typical delivery is 15 to 20 days after purchase. Some made-to-order items take longer, and this is shown on the product page.
- Delivery cost is calculated at checkout from your address and the size of your order.
- Assembly is available on eligible items. You add it at checkout and see the cost before you pay.
- Payment is by secure card through JCC.
If you need furniture by a certain date, for example before guests arrive or before you move in, plan ahead. Full details are on our delivery and collection page. You have 14 days from receiving your order to withdraw, then up to 14 more days to send items back in their original condition and packaging. Return shipping is normally paid by the customer. Read the full returns policy before you order.
Online store, no showroom: collecting your order in Larnaca
To be clear, Argos The Classics is an online store. We do not have a showroom where you can see or try furniture. What we do have is a collection point in Larnaca:
Stadiou 84, Office 202, Larnaca 6020
Larnaca customers can collect their orders from here free of charge. Just message us on WhatsApp first to arrange a time. For many locals this is a real advantage: you do not need to wait at home for a delivery slot, and you can pick up your order at a time you have agreed with us. If you live in Oroklini, Aradippou or Livadia, the collection point is a short drive away.
Before you come, check that the boxes will fit in your car, and bring someone to help with heavier items.
Popular furniture for Larnaca homes
Whether you are furnishing a holiday flat, a first home or a growing family house, these categories are a good place to start:
- Sofas and corner sofas: corner sofas make good use of open-plan living rooms, while sofa beds give you a spare bed for visiting family.
- Beds and mattresses: browse double beds and matching mattresses. Our mattress buying guide explains firmness and sizes.
- Dining sets: dining sets save you matching a table and chairs yourself.
- Home office furniture: if you work from home, a supportive office chair and a well-sized desk make a real difference.
What to ask a furniture shop in Larnaca before you buy
Whichever shop you choose, use this checklist so there are no surprises:
- What are the exact dimensions, and are they listed for every item?
- What is it made of, and how do I care for it?
- How long will delivery take to my address, and how is the cost worked out?
- Is assembly available, and what does it cost?
- Can I collect the order myself instead of waiting for delivery?
- What is the returns policy, and who pays for return shipping?
- Is payment secure, and how can I contact the shop if I have a question?
A shop that answers these questions clearly, in writing, is usually one you can rely on.
