Good Airbnb furniture in Cyprus does three jobs: it sleeps the number of guests you advertise, it survives people who are on holiday and therefore not being careful, and it looks good in photos. Guests need a proper bed, a decent mattress, enough seats at the table, somewhere to unpack and a shaded spot outside. Everything else is decoration, and decoration is usually the first thing to break.
Short answer: buy for the guest count first (beds, mattresses, chairs), then for durability (easy-clean fabrics, solid tables, closed storage), then for the photos. A sofa bed covers the extra sleepers, and a furniture package gets the whole flat delivered in one order.
What furniture does an Airbnb in Cyprus actually need?
Less than most hosts buy, but every piece has to work hard. I plan a rental the way a guest uses it: arrive tired, drop the bags, shower, sleep, eat, sit outside. If a piece does not help with one of those, question it.
- One proper bed per advertised couple, with a good mattress and a waterproof protector.
- A sofa bed if you advertise more sleepers than your bedrooms hold.
- A bedside table and lamp on each side of the bed. Guests notice when there is nowhere to put a phone.
- A dining table with one chair per guest, not one chair fewer.
- Hanging space and a place for suitcases, so nobody lives out of a bag on the floor.
- Outdoor seating for the balcony or terrace. In Cyprus this is not optional.
- A coffee table and TV unit that are sturdy and easy to wipe.
That is the core list. Rugs, cushions and art come last, and only in quantities you are happy to replace.
Which materials survive holiday guests?
Surfaces you can wipe and fabrics you can clean without calling anyone. Sun cream, sand, red wine and wet swimsuits are the reality of a summer rental in Cyprus, and sooner or later they all meet the sofa.
Upholstery: tightly woven fabrics in mid-tones or subtle patterns hide wear far better than pale plain ones, and removable covers are worth a great deal. I go through the options in my guide to the best sofa fabrics for Cyprus. Tables: I would choose a solid or laminate top over glass. Glass shows every fingerprint and looks tired in listing photos by August. Colours: skip white upholstery unless cleaning is your hobby. Warm neutrals, greys and soft blues photograph well and forgive a lot.
Every product page on Argos The Classics lists dimensions and materials, so check what a piece is made of before it goes in the basket, not after the first guest review.
Do you need a sofa bed in a holiday rental?
Yes, if you want to advertise more guests than your bedrooms sleep. A sofa bed turns a one-bedroom flat into a listing for four, which opens it up to families and groups of friends.
Two things decide whether it earns good reviews or bad ones. First, the mechanism: guests do not read instructions, so it should open in one obvious movement. Second, the opened size: check the bed dimensions on the product page and plan the room with the sofa open, not closed. If the open bed blocks the balcony door, you will hear about it. My guide on how to measure before ordering furniture also covers doorways, stairs and lifts.
Treat the sofa bed as the extra bed. A couple booking a one-bedroom flat expects the real one; the sofa bed is for the children, or the friend who booked last.
Which beds and mattresses should a rental have?
A sturdy double in the main bedroom and, where space allows, two singles in the second. Two singles are the flexible choice: friends, siblings and colleagues use them apart, couples push them together.
Do not economise on the mattress. It is the one thing every guest judges, usually at three in the morning. A medium feel suits the widest range of sleepers, and a waterproof protector is not negotiable. My mattress buying guide explains firmness and materials, and you can browse all mattresses by size.
For the frame, choose something solid and simple. Upholstered headboards look lovely in photos; pick one in a fabric you can clean. Our double beds show exact sizes on each product page, so match the mattress to the frame before you order.
How many dining seats does a holiday rental need?
At least one per guest you advertise. If the listing says six, I want six chairs at the table, not four chairs and a stool borrowed from the kitchen. Guests photograph breakfast, and a crowded table ends up in reviews.
| Property | Sleeps | Sleeping set-up | Dining |
|---|---|---|---|
| Studio | 2 | Double bed or sofa bed | Table for 2, ideally 4 seats |
| One-bedroom flat | 2–4 | Double bed plus sofa bed | Table for 4 |
| Two-bedroom flat | 4–6 | Double, two singles, sofa bed | Table for 4–6, extendable helps |
| Three-bedroom house or villa | 6–8 | Two doubles, two singles, sofa bed | Table for 6–8 plus outdoor dining |
A dining set is the easy route, because the table and chairs already match in size and style. Choose chairs you can wipe down. Light fabric seats in a holiday rental are brave.
What about the balcony and storage?
Furnish the balcony like a room, because in Cyprus guests use it like one for most of the year. A small table, two to four chairs and some shade are the minimum. Sun, heat and salty air near the coast are hard on furniture, and my guide to outdoor furniture for the Cyprus sun and sea air explains which materials cope.
Inside, guests need somewhere to unpack. A wardrobe with hanging space and a couple of shelves, a spot for open suitcases and a few hooks by the door are enough. Keep your own things in a separate locked cupboard rather than filling the guest wardrobe with spare linen.
What furniture makes listing photos sell?
Furniture that makes the room look calm, bright and easy to live in. The first photo is usually the living room, so the sofa sets the tone for the whole listing.
- One clear style throughout, not a mix of whatever happened to be available.
- Light colours on large surfaces, colour in cushions and throws you can swap.
- A sofa that fits the room with space to walk around it.
- A dining table laid for the number of guests you advertise.
- Bedside lamps on both sides, switched on for the photo.
Be honest with the camera, too. If a wide-angle photo makes the flat look bigger than it is, guests will say so. Furnish for the real size of the room.
Mistakes I see all the time
- Six guests, four chairs. The listing promises one thing and the table says another.
- The cheapest mattress and the most expensive cushions. It should be the other way round.
- A pale fabric sofa in a beach rental. Sun cream wins every time.
- Glass tables with sharp corners in a flat marketed to families.
- Ordering in May for a June opening. Delivery is typically 15–20 days after purchase, and some made-to-order items take longer.
- Buying piece by piece from several places, so the furniture arrives over weeks and nothing quite matches.
Furnishing several units? Packages, B2B and bulk orders
If you are furnishing more than one flat, repeat the same pieces. Matching beds, sofas and dining sets across units keep listings consistent and make replacements simple.
For a single flat, our furniture packages group the main pieces for a room or a whole home into one order, and until 28 November 2026 our Black Friday Packages are 30% off, with no coupon needed. For property managers, developers and hotels, our B2B furniture service handles bulk orders, and the HoReCa range covers hospitality furniture.
We deliver across the Republic of Cyprus, typically 15–20 days after purchase, and the delivery cost is calculated at checkout from your address and order size. The details are on our delivery page. Assembly is available on eligible items and is added at checkout, with the cost shown before you pay.
Send me the floor plan and the number of guests you want to host on WhatsApp at +357 96 592277, and we will tell you what fits and what you can skip.
